What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle, hands-on healing technique that works with your body's natural energy. It helps calm your nervous system, ease stress, and support emotional and physical healing — all while you lie back, fully clothed, and relax.

During a session, I place my hands lightly over different areas of the body, allowing healing energy to flow where it's needed. There's no pressure or manipulation — just a calming, restorative experience that many describe as deeply relaxing and peaceful.

How Reiki Can Help

People often come to Reiki when they're feeling:

  • Stressed or overwhelmed

  • Low in energy or emotionally drained

  • Struggling with anxiety, sadness or low mood

  • Tense, restless or unable to relax

  • Disconnected or "not quite themselves"

  • For time out and deep relaxation - bringing the body back to balance

Reiki helps by:

  • Encouraging deep relaxation and stillness

  • Calming the mind and emotions

  • Supporting better sleep and more energy

  • Easing tension in the body

  • Helping you feel more grounded, clear, and balanced

One client came to me experiencing anxiety and low mood. They had trouble sleeping, constant tension in their chest, and felt emotionally 'stuck'. After a few Reiki sessions, they began sleeping better, felt more emotionally balanced, and described feeling "lighter" and more able to cope with everyday life. While Reiki isn't a cure, it gave them the space to feel safe, supported, and start moving forward again.

Reiki is safe, gentle, and suitable for everyone — and it works beautifully alongside other treatments or therapies. Sometimes, it's just about giving yourself permission to pause, breathe, and reset.

Physical Benefits of Reiki

While Reiki is often known for emotional and stress relief, it also supports the body in more physical ways by helping it shift out of "fight or flight" mode and into rest and repair.

Some of the physical benefits people often report include:

  • Reduced muscle tension and tightness

  • Fewer headaches or migraines

  • Better digestion and gut comfort

  • Improved sleep and deeper rest

  • Boosted immune function and faster recovery

  • Relief from fatigue or feeling "run down"

  • Less tension in the chest, shoulders, and jaw

  • A general feeling of being more "in their body" and at ease

Reiki doesn't force the body to do anything — it simply supports what your system is already trying to do: heal, recover, and rebalance.

Whether you're dealing with stress-related symptoms, general aches and pains, or just feel "off," Reiki offers a safe space to reset and reconnect.
