What is Emotional Aromatherapy?

Looking at the Emotional Root of Imbalance... not just the symptoms
Emotional aromatherapy is more than just using essential oils — it's a way of gently exploring what's really going on beneath the surface. We take time to look at the body as a whole: how you're feeling emotionally and physically, what's happening in your life, and how your body is responding.
In a session, we'll sit down and talk about things like your sleep, energy levels, digestion, emotional state, current stressors, and how your body is coping. From there, I create a personalised blend of essential oils and emotional support that fits you.
This might be used on its own, or beautifully blended into other treatments like Reiki, massage, or kinesiology — depending on what you need on the day.
Why Emotions Matter
When emotions are held in or ignored, they often show up in the body — as tension, fatigue, overwhelm, or even physical symptoms like bloating, headaches, or poor sleep. Emotional aromatherapy helps uncover these emotional roots and gently supports the body in releasing them.
A client came in feeling constantly tired, anxious, and emotionally flat. We talked about what was happening in her life — poor sleep, high stress, and feeling disconnected. Through emotional aromatherapy, we identified underlying emotional patterns and supported her system with a tailored blend and gentle lifestyle shifts. After a few sessions, she felt more in control, lighter emotionally, and finally started sleeping better.

Another example is where a client came to see me after a lingering back injury. Physically, she was doing all the "right" things — rest, stretching, even physio — but the pain and tension just weren't shifting. During our session, it became clear there was more going on emotionally: she'd been carrying a lot of responsibility, felt unsupported, and was holding in a lot of frustration.
Through emotional aromatherapy, we worked on calming her nervous system and supporting those deeper emotional layers. She began to realise how much her body was holding on to. Over a few sessions — alongside her physical rehab — her pain started easing, sleep improved, and she said she "felt like herself again."
Everyone is unique, and this therapy meets you where you're at. Whether you're feeling low, emotionally stuck, or just out of sorts — emotional aromatherapy offers a gentle, supportive way to come back into balance
